Barry Boes
1971-2025

Growing up in Lauderdale, Miss., Barry Boes' parents knew early on their son was ready to take on new challenges. A gifted student, he started his college studies when he was just 12 years old. He quickly became a member of the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and at 16, became the youngest graduate of Mississippi State University in the school's 100-year history.
He picked up a paycheck before he picked up his diploma, though. Barry started working at Advanced Microelectronics as a senior software engineer, and then took that experience to a leadership position at Cypress Semiconductor, where he was the CAD engineering director, managing worldwide CAD tool development, technology implementation, and design support.

Barry relocated to Texas, and in 2005, he decided to launch his own company. During his time at MSU, Barry worked with the university's technology incubator to write a records and verification retrieval platform running on DARPA, the government's high-security network. With the advent of the Internet and browser-based applications, he recognized the same kind of platform could be deployed for consumer reporting agencies. Coincidentally, at the same time, Barry and his kids were enjoying a shared passion for the Harry Potter books and movies. Harry and his wizarding friends often use the accio spell (we pronounce it "AH-see-oh") to summon items from wherever they may be. So Accio Data was born, with the name meaning that we are "summoning data" from a variety of sources. And he chose to headquarter Accio Data in Dripping Springs, Texas, a few miles west of Austin.

As the company grew, so did his love of sports, particularly cable wakeboarding. He devoted the same effort to training and eventually became a competitive wakeboarder in several national competitions.

Barry found his greatest joy in motorsports. Transitioning from motocross to cars, he raced in Spec Miata and Grand Touring (GT) series, driving the No. 32 Accio Data Ford Mustang with ARX Motorsports. He captured multiple championships, including the 2019 SCCA Hoosier Super Tour National Championship (GT2), the 2021 World Racing League Eastern, Western, and National endurance titles, and the 2024 CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Pro/Am Challenge. Barry's dedication, skill, and competitive spirit earned him respect across the national racing community.

The Boes family and Accio Data support local philanthropies. For the past several years, Accio Data has been the title sponsor for Hill Country Rally for Kids, a non-profit volunteer organization founded by Accio COO Cody Reeves and dedicated to raising funds for central Texas children's charities.
Barry will be remembered for his brilliance, determination, and generosity, whether in the world of software, on the racetrack, or in his support of local causes. His legacy lives on through the company he built, the community he strengthened, and the example he set of always embracing the next challenge.
